Friendsgiving Ideas

Friendsgiving is no different from a thanksgiving party or dinner as we all know it. The obvious difference is in the people we spend it with. Whereas Thanksgiving is spent with relatives, sometimes ones that some of us dread or loathe spending time with, Friendsgiving is spent with our second ‘families’, people we have grown to love over time, in our careers, school days, college, or just our neighborhood. These are people, we are comfortable calling brothers and sisters but are not related to us. People we share our ugly past with, our sweet memories with, and even our ugly sweaters and dirty linens literally. So basically Friendsgiving combines the very best of what you get in thanksgiving, but with a more relaxed group of attendees with relaxed rules away from the prying eyes of nosy cousins, aunties, and other relatives, not forgetting the overbearing scrutiny of a dad to his daughter’s girlfriend. Themes Last summer my friends and I had quite an interesting Friendsgiving party th

Is Ruto suffering from a split personality disorder?

President Uhuru in his Labour day address was a very furious man, and he had every reason to be. Anyone would be, I would be that furious if my Deputy would abdicate his duties, castigate my government, the same one that he serves in, and still have the nerve to claim the achievements that my government has had in his absence, in all his campaigns. I would be furious because the same deputy is still drawing his salary together with all the other perks entitled to a Deputy president yet he has been missing in action the entire time. William Samoei Ruto has been a ghost worker all along. Anyone would be furious. You would be furious, even his ardent supporters would if they can be honest and candid about this issue.

Ruto's response to Uhuru

In a quick rejoinder, the Deputy shot back at his boss on his Twitter account telling him to ask those that "you assigned my duties they are the ones that let you down". this in itself is an act of insubordination and ground for dismissal. If Ruto felt aggrieved by Uhuru's lack of confidence in him, the honorable thing for him to have done is to resign and allow the President to run his government the best way he would, and allow him to have a capable and helpful Deputy. but that would not be beneficial to a man who has learned the art of playing the victim and milking every opportunity that comes his way, would it? Ruto knew from the onset that if Uhuru performed well then he loses his chances of succeeding him, but if Uhuru performs poorly in any aspect it was an opportunity to present himself as the alternative to that failed leadership or performance. Like a vulture that lays in wait for its prey, Ruto has always hoped and worked towards Uhuru's failure. He has mastered the art of deceit, so much so that many of his supporters would never see him for what he is, a pathological liar, an opportunist, that would do anything to ascend to power, including sabotaging his own government, then turning around to criticize his boss for the same. The tone of Ruto's tweet was that of someone marveling at the president's predicament, happy that Uhuru finds himself in this situation. Each time the President and the country faced an emergency or disaster it seemed to me that the Deputy President secretly hoped it would worsen further for him to capitalize on it in his campaigns. Granted we are in an election year, but which kind of a personality disorder would one be suffering from for him or her to be able to speak the way the DP does? Is this even normal? Does Ruto suffer from a split personality disorder?

One time, you are praising the government and claiming its achievements as attributed to you, and the next you are heaping blame on the same government and all that serve in it but you. God complex? schizophrenia? or is it just a dissociative personality disorder? Could the Deputy president be suffering from some undisclosed mental illness? I ask myself this and more questions each time am listening to him speak. I can't help but wonder what would happen to my country if I were right. He is exhibiting tendencies to suggest that I am right and this is very worrying. I am worried that I might be the only one seeing this or just a handful of us are and that the rest of you will only see this when it's too late. I am worried that he has managed to fool so many people and in the process gotten himself a huge following, especially the youth who are deaf to any kind of debate about his flaws. I am worried that if I am right, then this guy will stop at nothing to ascend to power absolutely nothing!

Why would anyone not see through this guy? It's so obvious what he has been doing from the onset, are Kenyans this gullible? Are we so blind that we cant see what Ruto is up to? When will we wake up and call him out for what he is? A fraud! I agree it hasn't been the best time for this country economically, It has been the worst, nonetheless, this is not unique to Kenya. As a result of COVID effects, some of the leading economies the world over are struggling including the mighty USA, and so it would be so unfair and dishonest for the Deputy of Kenya to go around the country deliberately insinuating and purporting this to be President Uhuru's making. No country in the world was left untouched by the COVID effects. The other issue that has been so much misrepresented is the recent fuel crisis that led to the increase in the price of the same product in the country. Ruto and his team want Kenyans to believe that it's Uhuru's making. He claims that Uhuru and his Azimio partner Raila Amollo Odinga are solely responsible for the crisis since they own 'several petroleum businesses'. Who doesn't know about the Russian/Ukraine war and the impact it has had on the fuel industry the world over? Like COVID, this is not a unique problem in Kenya, the fuel crisis and shortage have been felt in other countries, especially those that import fuel. Russia is one of the leading oil and gas producing countries and is holding its oil exports while at the same time also facing trade sanctions from world bodies for attacking Ukraine. This has dented the supply of fuel and other oil products, especially to African countries.

Therefore the Deputy President and anyone blaming Uhuru and his government entirely for the economic problems we are facing isn't being sincere or is out to gain some cheap and unwarranted political milage. Why would a sitting Deputy President be maligning his own boss? Is it for you and me? What do we stand to gain by him doing this? Who stands to benefit from we the citizens hating the President? If Uhuru looks bad in the eyes of mwananchi, who benefits? If Ruto was such a saint as he wants us to believe, why is it that 95% of the people he associates with are all people who have been accused of graft, or are involved in graft one way or another? Why doesn't he ever talk of his plan (or lack of any) to fight graft? Kenyans must ask these questions and demand answers. Let's not just sing praises to these leaders and follow them blindly. Avoid being bought for some pennies only to sell your country for the next five years, or an eternity, who knows? With the dictatorial tendencies exhibited by Ruto coupled with the friends he keeps (Museveni and the likes) I doubt he will cede power if he wins and serves his full constitutional terms. If he ever sneaks into power (God forbid), then God help us all.
